Flying the Lone Star Flag

(written by my brother, Bro, on the occasion of my 60th birthday)

A flight attendant
once
explained it to me,
as we battled
a ferocious
headwind.
"Texas
is always the problem,"
he said,
because it rushes down,
from the Rockies
to the Gulf,
and it never stops
blowing
across the Panhandle
of Texas."

Many years
have passed
since he gave me
that lesson,
to which he added
"Things will get better
when we get out of Texas!"

While I am from Texas,
and shall always
love it,
I see his point of view,
with
or without
a weathervane
to prove it.

Texas
is always
the problem,
a burr
under your saddle
until you get past it,
unless you stop,
to make it
your home,
and buy
a tight-fitting
Stetson.
